“Funding the Cooperative City in Central Europe” explores, promotes and assists experiments in organizing and establishing new community spaces and services in Central European cities. After a series of workshops organized in Rotterdam, Berlin and Paris, the project aims at moving to Central Europe: through a series of events in the Visegrad countries, we will complete the creation of an Europe-wide network of experimental initiatives that introduce new ways to finance and organize community spaces and services. Through research and events, the project brings together protagonists of the new social economy from various cities in order to help shaping a new Central European culture of urban development based on community-driven initiatives, civic economic models and cooperative ownership.

The “Funding the Cooperative City in Central Europe” is part of a larger initiative that bring together „city makers” and urban innovators from various countries. By focusing on Central European cities with emerging entrepreneurial skills and a maturing civil society, the project aims at positioning Central European initiatives in the wider European context and at acting as a platform for knowledge exchange.
